Islamization of Knowledge Muslim Scholars ChallengesAbstract
Efforts to foster a culture of knowledge study whether from a private point of view or through institutions in social affairs face questions about the policy felt by most members of the developing world in the education system sector. The world's scientific center saw that most of the scientific fields were the result of epistemological dominance by Western ideas. The idea of Islamization of knowledge is an act or process of unification between revelation and reason. This idea is also a reaction or response to the condition of Muslims who seem weak from the point of mastery of knowledge. The state of Muslims after the Islamic glory period felt that if they did not master Western knowledge then it was a shameful thing. The narrowness of the knowledge of Muslims results in the society being said to be dependent on all knowledge and technology that is sourced from the West so that it considers that the West is the center of all science. In Malaysia, there is no escape from the idea of Islamization of knowledge either at the primary, secondary, or higher education levels. The application of elements of Islamization in the field of science produced many impacts that arose from challenges that were well overcome. Therefore, this article will discuss more clearly the concept of Islamization of knowledge, a comparative analysis of the idea of Islamization of knowledge by three Muslim scholars namely Sayyed Hussein Nasr, Ismail Raji Al Faruqi, and Syed Muhammad Naquib al Attas as well as display the challenges faced in shaping the idea of Islamization Knowledge in Islamic education in Malaysia. In this writing, the qualitative research method through literature review is used in analyzing the data collected through descriptive and analytical analysis. The use of books in the form of works, journals, and previous studies is widely used to describe the scope of the debate. The results of this study show that Islamization of Knowledge is a process of liberating knowledge from Western secular influence and the challenge of Islamization of Knowledge in Malaysia is about how to maintain efforts to integrate the Islamic education curriculum so that it is consistent at all levels of knowledge.Downloads
