The Classification of Ethics In The Book Al-Mukhtaṣar Fī ‘Ilm Al-Akhlāq According To Al- Qāḍī Al-Ījī

Abstract

This article discusses the thoughts of al-Qāḍī al-Ījī in al-Mukhtaṣar fī 'Ilm al- Akhlāq. The main issues discussed in this article are: [i] The background and thoughts of al-Qāḍī al-Ījī, [ii] The scope, structure, characteristics of ethical preservation, and the means of acquiring them according to al-Qāḍī al-Ījī, and [iii] The implications of ethical preservation and its acquisition on Malay society. The writing of this article is based on content analysis research, with the primary source being the book al-Mukhtaṣar fī 'Ilm al-Akhlāq. The findings of this study indicate that al-Qāḍī al-Ījī's thoughts in his book al-Mukhtaṣar fī 'Ilm al-Akhlāq demonstrate that the characteristics of ethical preservation and the ways to acquire them significantly influence the values and ethics of individuals in a nation. The development of an individual's character to possess good ethics is crucial in instilling ethical elements in the formation of the Insān Kāmil.
