Abstract
In light of the rapid transformations taking place worldwide in the field of digital technology, there is an urgent need to develop police education in a manner that aligns with the requirements of the digital era and emerging security challenges. This study aims to propose a national strategic vision for the integration of technology in police education in the Sultanate of Oman by analyzing the current status of technology utilization in police educational institutions, identifying the challenges that hinder such integration, and exploring future opportunities in line with Oman Vision 2040. The study adopted a descriptive-analytical approach through a review of recent Arabic and international literature, as well as the analysis of institutional reports and relevant documents related to police education and digital transformation. Furthermore, a proposed strategic framework was developed, encompassing key integration components, including digital systems, human resources, technological infrastructure, digital educational content, and institutional partnerships. The framework also incorporates key performance indicators (KPIs), implementation policies, and governance mechanisms aimed at ensuring the sustainability and effectiveness of implementation. The findings revealed the existence of an initial digital infrastructure within the Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences. However, the absence of a unified national vision for digital transformation in police education and the insufficient preparation of technical personnel represent major obstacles to the effective adoption of technology in security education. The results also indicate promising strategic opportunities, including support for national digital transformation initiatives, the enhancement of international partnerships, the development of digital security content, and the utilization of simulation technologies, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity applications in police training. The study concludes that the success of digital transformation in police education requires strong institutional commitment, sustainable funding, and effective collaboration between security agencies and academic institutions. Accordingly, the study recommends establishing a national unit specialized in security education technologies, implementing digital governance policies, and incorporating smart education and emerging technologies into police officer preparation programs to enhance the readiness and professional competence of security personnel in addressing contemporary security challenges.Downloads
